So, my suggestion is do a body swerve around this version of ‘Jane Eyre’. Lovely Australian, Mia Wasikowska (Australian? Via Poland I reckon) is brilliant as Jane, following her success in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The kids are all right.’ (now THERE’S a film!). Judi Dench does Judi Dench as the Housekeeper (come back Agnes Moorhead – all is forgiven!). Rochester is played by German/Irish actor Michael Fassbender who is totally miscast – not sexy, not big and brutal enough and so we don’t get the proper ‘Beauty and the Beast’ scenario this story requires. Directed by some kid who’s done almost nothing – Cary Fukusage (a refugee from a B list Kung Fu films, perhaps?).
