Tyler Russell here from KX 93.5 FM in Laguna Beach, California. We’re the only FM station in a beach town of 24,000 people, and we were founded last year with the idea that most American radio has become overly syndicated, corporate, and disconnected. There is a general dislike among radio consumers of the big stations playing the same 40 songs over and over, using robot DJs, and talking about content that has nothing to do with their home town.
Our goal is bring American radio back to its heyday: focus on a local community, hand-pick songs in sets that flow and make sense, and connect to the listener at home who is spending his or her valuable time listening to us. We play “Generational Alt Rock,” showcasing alternative rock from the 60s until today with a focus on introducing you to under-appreciated and unsigned artists. This hour, we’ve played Okkervil River, RAC, Kajagoogoo, and even threw some Devo in there. You can listen to us online from anywhere and picture yourself on the coast of California digging to some alt rock at www.KX935.com“
