This privacy policy sets out how Lucy’s Web Designs collects, uses and protects any information you give us when you use this website or work with us on a project.

This policy is effective from 27 August 2026 and replaces any previous version.

Who we are

Lucy’s Web Designs is a web design, hosting, SEO and digital marketing consultancy based in Enfield, run by Lucy Hall. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Lucy’s Web Designs is the data controller for the information described in this policy.

What information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • your name and business name
  • your website URL
  • contact information, including your email address and phone number
  • general location information such as your postcode
  • any information you send us directly, for example through an enquiry form, by email, or as part of a project (such as content, images or account details needed to build or manage your site)

How and why we use your information

We only use your information where we have a proper legal basis to do so:

  • to respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
  • to deliver the web design, hosting, SEO or marketing services you’ve asked for, as part of our contract with you
  • to keep the internal and financial records we’re legally required to keep
  • to send you occasional updates about our services, only where you’ve agreed to this or as part of an existing client relationship, and always with an easy way to opt out

AI tools we use in our work

As part of delivering our services, we may use reputable AI tools, including Claude (made by Anthropic), to help draft, edit or research content such as blog posts, page copy, audit reports and marketing materials. We do not knowingly enter your personal data, such as full names, contact details or financial information, into these tools beyond what is genuinely needed for the task in hand, and any AI-assisted output is reviewed by a person before it’s used or published. Where information is entered into an AI tool, that provider acts as a data processor on our behalf under our instructions. If you would prefer your project is handled without AI tools at any stage, just let us know and we’ll work that way instead.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. We may share it with trusted third parties who help us run our business or deliver your project, for example hosting providers, email tools, Google Analytics, and the AI tools described above. Each of these only uses your information as we instruct them to. We’ll only share your information more widely if we’re required to by law.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on your device that helps a website remember your preferences or understand how it’s being used. This website currently uses:

  • Essential cookies, needed for the website to function properly
  • Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. This data is not tied to information that identifies you personally

Where required, you’ll be asked to consent to non-essential cookies when you first visit the site. You can also control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, though this may affect how the site works for you.

How long we keep your information

  • Enquiry details are kept for as long as reasonably needed to follow up, and deleted if it doesn’t turn into a project
  • Client and project information is kept for the length of our working relationship and afterwards for as long as we’re legally required to, typically up to six years for financial records
  • Marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • ask what information we hold about you and get a copy, which is normally free of charge
  • ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate
  • ask us to delete your information, in some circumstances
  • ask us to restrict, or object to, certain uses of your information
  • ask for your information in a portable format
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we’re relying on consent

How to complain

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first at Lucy@lucyswebdesigns.co.uk so we can look into it. We’ll acknowledge your complaint, investigate without undue delay, keep you updated, and let you know the outcome. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can then complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

International transfers

Some of the tools we use, including certain AI and analytics providers, may store or process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on legally recognised safeguards for international transfers and choose providers who take data protection seriously.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example as our tools or services change. Please check this page occasionally to stay up to date.
