In this month’s update I cover two important things for small business website owners. First, website hacks are on the rise, so I explain how to check whether your site has been compromised and what to look out for. Second, a new legal requirement under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 came into force on 19 June 2026: every UK business, no matter how small, must now have a data protection complaints process in place. That means your website needs a clear way for people to raise a data complaint, and your privacy policy needs updating. I explain what to do about both. Need help checking your site’s security or updating your privacy policy?
